Got a question? I’ve got an answer.
What payment methods do you accept? Do you take international orders?

I’m not from the UK. How do I know how much your things cost in my local currency?
Hopefully Shopify will add currency conversion soon. In the meantime you can use our currency converter. Remember that exchange rates change daily so the final price at checkout may be slightly different.
Do you take commissions?
Yes, I do. If you see something you like but you’d prefer a different colour, size or fabric then email me at hello AT askingfortrouble.org and I’ll see what I can do.
Are you interested in doing wholesale? Do you have wholesale prices?
I certainly am and I certainly do. Please email me at hello AT askingfortrouble.org to discuss. You can also download my press pack with wholesale prices.
Will you be getting any more of (insert item)? It sold out before I could buy it
It depends. Ask me and see! Because I use a lot of Japanese and vintage fabric and buttons almost everything I use is of limited supply and most items I make are one of a kind. I do have a lot of materials in my stash though so you never know.
Where do you get your materials?
The Japanese fabric comes all the way from Japan, either bought there myself or via various online shops. The handmade paper also comes from Japan through various art and Japanese shops. Have a read of my Tokyo Shopping Guide for ideas.
The vintage fabric and buttons are picked up in charity shops and car boot sales and occasionally online. I really do get stuff from all over the place which explains why I can be difficult to get exactly the same thing again. But that’s what makes each item special and individual.
Do you make everything yourself?
I really do. The only exceptions are things like bags and notebooks which are bought in but then embellished with my own printing, paper and appliques. Even the records are hand assembled with some unique, handmade aspect. Everything in the jiji~punch collection is handmade by my sister Nicolette.
I don’t get why you sell crafts and also records. What’s that all about?
Asking For Trouble is the name of both my record label and my crafting label. The record label is all about unique, hand-crafted, short-run records so it made sense to use the same name for both. The label is taking a bit of a break at the moment though I’m not really sure why. All the bands I want to release aren’t very organised and I never get around to chasing things up. One day!
How long does shipping take? Do you ship internationally?
Please see the Shipping Information page for answers to all your postage queries.
Something’s broken on your site!
Sometimes things go wrong – it’s inevitable. If there’s something wrong with a link or an image or the way things display then let me know what it is and what browser you were using and I’ll try and get it fixed. Please don’t correct my spelling or grammar though – language is there to be played with so sometimes it’s intentional!
I can’t place an order! HELP!
Oh no! I use Shopify and PayPal to run the shop and payment systems and have no control over any problems they might be having. Do let me know though and I can put your item(s) on hold and send you a PayPal invoice.
Is this your full time job?
At the moment, yes it is! However, I have only just given up my full time job for various reasons and there’s no saying I’ll be able to continue being a full time artist once my savings run out. I also do freelance web design and photography though – you can see my portfolio at www.marcelinesmith.com
A web designer eh? Will you design my website/shop?
I’ll certainly give you a quote! Email me at hello AT askingfortrouble.org and we can discuss your ideas.
I’m unhappy with my item(s). What are you going to do about it?
I’m sorry to hear that. Please see my returns policy for more information.
Still got questions?
Email me at hello AT askingfortrouble.org and I’ll do my best to help.
